In short, if your Westinghouse side by side fridge's lights are on but neither fridge nor freezer compartments are getting cold, you need one of the following power boards:

Why is my fridge not cooling if the power board is broken?

The power board supplies power to several things in a fridge:

• Baffle / damper (small door in fridge upper housing that lets air in from freezer)
• Compressor (the black ball at the back)
• Condenser fan (the fan next to the compressor at the rear of the fridge)
• Digital display
• Evaporator (the silver thing in the freezer)
• Evaporator fan (black and red fan in freezer)
• Freezer light (blue)
• Fridge light

Put simply, when the fridge stops cooling that means that the part of the board that supplies power to the compressor has failed. You should be able to tell this also from a lack of the usual vibration sound from the compressor. Often, the other parts of the board are fine which is why the lights still come on and you might hear or see other parts of the fridge still working like a fan or baffle / damper.

How do I know what power board I need?

While some power boards are interchangeable, the best thing to do is to change like for like to avoid any compatibility issues. With that in mind, follow the steps below to see what power board you need:

1. Turn off the fridge
2. Unscrew the dust cover at the rear
3. Take a photo of the silver box to the left of the compressor.

If your fridge is one of the following models, then you will not have a power board there. Yours is underneath and you will need the ERF2500++ power board:

• WSE6070SF
• WSE6070WF
• WSE6970SF
• WSE6970WF

How do I fit the new power board once it arrives?

For this you will need just one item - a very long phillips screwdriver. We use the longest green one in this Stanley set. Then follow the list below:

1. Turn off the fridge.
2. Remove dust cover.
3. Remove the screw to the right of the power board. In some cases there might be two screws which will require greater patience and precision.
4. The metal case is hooked into the fridge wall on the left. This means you need to slide the box to the right, then pull out over the wires next to the compressor.
5. Unplug all the white Deutsch plugs from the board.
6. Plug in the new power board.
7. Turn on fridge to check all working. 
8. Turn off fridge and reattach power board to the fridge.
9. Reattach dust cover.
10. Turn on fridge!

How do I fit an ERF2500++ power board?

To fit an ERF2500++ power board, follow the steps below:

1. Turn off fridge
2. Lean fridge back against at wall so you can see and work under the fridge
3. Unscrew three screws around black plastic box
4. Unplug all white Deutsch plugs
5. Unclip both sides of the beige box that the big three wires go through.
6. Plug into new power board.
7. Reattach beige box to power board.
8. Screw in new power board
9. Stand fridge upright.
10. Turn on fridge!
